Historique :	Cette tapisserie a été placée dans ce château par le propriétaire du XIIe, Erasme de Contades, qui a reçu son bâton de maréchal en 1758. Il fait alors remettre au goût du jour son château médiéval avec Jean-Benoît-Vincent Barré (architecte) et Simier (sculpteur). Il souhaite redécorer l'intérieur avec des thèmes militaires. Cette tapisserie comme Le Serment peut être attribuée à la manufacture d'Aubusson, par le style, le traitement des personnages, la large bande décorative, le gros grain de tissage ainsi que le terne actuel des coloris.
