Historique :	Adolphe Yvon (1817-1893), élève de Delaroche, obtient plusieurs médailles aux Salons, devient peintre officiel sous Napoléon III et est envoyé sur les champs de bataille. Il en rapporte de nombreuses esquisses qu'il utilise dans ses tableaux d'histoire. Egalement portraitiste, il devient professeur à l'Ecole des Beaux-Arts.
